Stories: 200th Post

SO here it is... my 200th post. Hopefully it will not take so long to hit my 300th :)

To celebrate this round number, I am going to give away another Target gift card. Who doesn't ADORE a $25 Target gift card?!?

In order to win this Target gift card, I would like for you to leave a comment here on the blog (Facebook will not count this time) letting me know what your favorite blog post is. It can be from your own event or shoot- it can be someone else's. I will randomly pick from the comments on Friday at noon and let you know the winner!

I thought of this because of the survey that I had you all take the last time I was giving away money to Target. Many of you spoke about how powerful Erin's divorce shoot was. While I have loved many of the locations and people that I have had come into my story, this shoot was something special. The way that it all came together on location just blows me away... and then how it came across in the images was so powerful. You obviously all felt that way too.

When I asked in the survey what you wanted to see more of on the blog, many of you said you wanted to see more shoots like that. I would LOVE to do more shoots like that... you just have to be willing to share your story and then we can make it happen. Erin approached me with that beautiful idea and I am so glad she did. Think outside of the box when it comes to what ways I can tell your story through images.

Just want to show you a couple of shots from the weddings that I will be blogging this week... check back to see the full posts!

Laura Musten's Music Story session is among my favorites (since I had to pick one, I picked hers!). I love all the spots in Raleigh you guys traveled to, & seeing the different perspectives that you & David capture while shooting makes me smile. Um, & Finch's is my FAVORITE, so since it made it into her shoot, I'm a fan. :)

I would have to say Elgin's post of course...LOL! But after that, my favorite two posts would be the trash the dress with Chase Fuller. Not only were they beautiful but they put a very creative spin on your classical bridal shoot along with using nature and its natural beauty! And of course mixing that with the love and beauty that you could see in Chase's eyes (and Steven's too when he was pictured!) LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Wish more brides would be up for trashing their dresses! I know I would if it fit 7 years later!! LOL! :)

Hard to pick just one...Mine is definitly a tie between the state fair engagement pics and the trash the dress shoots!

My favorite post was the sister post with Robyn Vandenburg. I have a sister and it captures that special bond sisters have.

The engagements pics at the fair of Jessica & Jeremy were my favorite mostly because I'm going to be in that wedding in October and they are one of my favorite couples ever! I also love the trash the dress shoots. Especially the one with the bride in the tree. Amazing work!

The Salvation Army post. The photographs and the story you told with it really moved me. Now that's REALLY telling a story!! ;) I especially loved the part where you talked about putting your camera through the door and you were terrified that you'd find someone staring back at you in the picture you had just taken. Fascinating!

I really like Chase and Steven's wedding photos. They were so colorful and fun. Especially the ones of the girls.
And of course our wedding photos were wonderful :)

As a newcomer to your site I've been looking back at your old blogs and I LOVE them all!! I haven't been able to get through everything but my favorites so far have been your personal posts. I love how you feel free to share your life with everyone and incorporate it into your work. I know the personal posts aren't one of your official "shoots" but because I've read your personal posts I feel like I can see your personality in all of the shoots featured in your blog.

You're the first photographer I've seen to do this storytelling and it's awesome. It shows that you truly care about your work and more importantly the people in your work!!

I hope we can get together for you to photograph my little one and our family one day!! :)

Of course, what can be better than my own wedding photos?! But Chase trashing her dress in the tree is awesome! Sometimes when I see a beautiful tree I wish you would just walk around the corner with my dress in hand to get a shot like that!

Also, would love to see the boudoir shoot. It sounds like a great future anniversary gift. :) jmdm2@aol.com

I hate to be typical and say my own, but I've got to say the wedding story for "Paul and Becca" was top notch photography.
What I loved was that you captured a so much of what is "us." You captured my sillines; you captured her love of smiling and dance. You captured how important our friends are; you captured how we love to have fun (with an INCREDIBLE picture sequence of the first dance!) You were right in that you needed more blogs, but with the space you had, you captured US, and we thank you for that.

Plus, everyone we've sent it to has been blown away! Maybe you'll get some calls from some of them!

I love them ALL!! I love the dress trashing shoot on the beach!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE REST OF JED & KATHERINE'S SHOOT!!! :) :) :)

Of course, they are all great. But, Paola & Wes's shoot captured my attention with their sense of style and personality (Bridal portraits and ceremony). I love how pictures can depict people in such an honest way.

But, i'm also looking forward to you photographing the soon-to-be newest addition to our family! :)

You know what would be REALLY cute for a kids photo shoot....having it at the pumpking patch. Their are so many in the area and the Fall is my favorite season. That would be adorable!!

Well, I'd have to say any of the six Fuller shoots (am I missing any?) would be my favorite, but since that's cheating I'm gonna say the state fair shoot...mostly because I was jealous I wasn't there with my wedding dress on trashing it with you:) And thanks to everyone who said that my shoots were some of their favorites- I mean obviously you're complimenting the wonderful photographers and their amazing ideas (because I truly contributed nothing other than "what should I do?"), but I'm excited that other people liked them as much as I did/do!

I love them all! You guys do a fabulous job of capturing life! i love the boudoir shots because I'm trying to get my courage...

I love that so many people loved the fair shoot you did with us!!! :-)

My favorites are your personal stories. I love the Africa pics and the Salvation Army pics. It's nice to know photographers that can reach beyond the typical wedding/engagement shoots!

Naturally, my family shots on the beach come first but the boudoir outdoors & the trashing the dress would come in quickly after. You capture people's personalities so well - I love that about your work!

It's a tie between Wedding Story: Lauren and Jason, June 2009 and Engagemnet Story: Jessica and Jeremy, October 2008 at the State Fair. Both are delightful!

My very favorite, of course, would be the Derek and Erica wedding photos. You did such a great job of capturing our day, and everyone in the wedding party and at the wedding absolutely loved you guys!

My next favorite would be Tina and Tim's wedding pictures. I love all the colors, jumping shots, and outdoor pictures!

My favorite would have to be the Kimbrell Family Shoot. The children are so beautiful, and I loved the simplicity of the pictures in their home. This shoot brought me to tears.

I love looking back at my David's first set of pictures to see how teeny tiny he was - makes my uterus jump every time :)

I also love Chase's first trash the dress with her int he tree - great stuff.

Nick and Ashley's wedding, Travis and Heather's wedding, the State Fair shoot... too many to name I guess.

Love,
The Pratt-Tatums!
